ONLINE: From the Suvla Plain to Victory: The Life of William Ralph Peel

Suvla Bay

The presentation will be live and online.

The gift of a set of trench maps belonging to Lt-Col William Ralph Peel led to Clive to discover more about his incredible wartime life. From the Suvla Bay landings in August 1915 to the liberation of Hautmont on 11 November 1918, it's a journey that took him through the Somme and Passchendaele leading to the award of a DSO and two bars.

After recently meeting William Peel's daughter Meloria, Col Peel's extremely detailed unpublished memoirs have come to light to further illustrate his wartime experiences with both the Green Howards and Manchester Regiment and shed a fascinating insight into his character.
