On this week’s Mentioned in Dispatches podcast, Charles Fairs examines the experience of the 60th Division at Salonika in 1917.

While much of their time was marked by inactivity, elements of the Division undertook reconnaissance, raids and patrols against the Bulgarian Army. With companies covering wide fronts and operating in open terrain, this was a sharp contrast to the Western Front and demanded high levels of initiative and fitness. These operations provided valuable preparation for later service in Palestine.

This talk was part of the London Pride Conference held in June 2024.
