Lechlade and the Great War, 1914-18

Speaker: Paul Cobb
Lechlade Memorial

Lechlade and the Great War 1914-18' sets out the experience of this Cotswold village both on the home front and that of the men and women who served in the UK and overseas. The research was undertaken mainly in 1997-8 in readiness for publication at the time of the eightieth anniversary of the Armistice; some extra detail has been added in recent years. The talk takes a chronological pathway through the war examining where local men served and died and concludes with the various ways in which they are commemorated including a new memorial produced to coincide with the centenary of the Great War. This talk is well illustrated with maps and photographs.

Members and non-members of the Western-Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
