‘Pluck can make up for inches – the story of Britain’s Great War Bantams’
Britain recruited 30,000 ‘bantams’ during the Great War, men between 5’-5’3’’, to fight. Those men came from all over the UK and Canada and were formed into two Bantam divisions, the 35th and the 40th. They fought in some of the bloodiest battles of that conflict but today they have been all but forgotten. This presentation will make sure that they are not forgotten, it will look at the actions the Divisions fought in, notable characters, and the legacy of the Bantams.
This talk is based on Michael’s acclaimed monodrama about the Bantams which has toured the UK and Ireland’, including the Edinburgh Fringe.
This meeting is at The Village Hall, Maldon Road, Hatfield Peverel, CM3 2HP, starting at 8pm. Hot drinks and water are available. Parking is available on-site.
