Zeppelin and Gotha attacks on Southend on Sea during the Great war

Speaker: David Marks
Southend Zepp 1

David will be presenting a bespoke talk on the First World War attacks on Southend on Sea, based on his research and writing on Zeppelin and Gotha attacks on the UK.

David is a member of the Great War Aviation Society (GWAS) and the Airship Heritage Trust. He regularly lectures on Zeppelin raids for these organisations, drawing on a unique and extensive collection of postcards and contemporary memorabilia, and writes the GWAS quarterly e-newsletter, 'Wind in the Wires'. David also contributes to books, journals, magazines and other WW1 projects. His first book, 'Let the Zeppelins Come', which focused on the morale-boosting impact of comic postcards, was published in March 2017 and received national press coverage. His second book, 'The Zeppelin Offensive: A German Perspective in Pictures and Postcards" was published in September 2019.

Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
