Women in the Great War
The talk explores the extensive role of women in the World War I.
The social changes which women experienced in the Great War were of such profound nature that by 1918 there could be no return to the status quo and these changes would eventually become permanent.
The speaker explores the role of diferent sufferage organisations who made a considerable contribution during the conflict. They were drawn from all social classes, with diverse political views and methods to obtain the vote for women, however they worked with the government of the day to support the war effort.
The speaker Dr. Phylomena Badsey is an academic historian at the University of Wolverhampton and an expert on the role of women in the World Wars. She is a regular speaker at WFA branch events and to various other audiences.
All are welcome to attend this event, and everyone is guaranteed a warm welcome with the doors opening at 6.30pm ready for a 7pm start.
