The Austro-Hungarian Front 1914-1918

Speaker: Dr Graham Kemp
Captured Austro Hungarian Pow

The waste of human life on the Western Front was nothing compared to the Austro-Hungarian front, where millions died because of breath-taking military incompetence. Only the Italian Front avoided this. Alongside this is the start of ethnic persecution that would reach its climax in the death camps of the Second World War in Eastern Europe.

Dr. Graham Kemp is a military historian known for his contributions to the understanding of the First World War. His work frequently shares personal experiences and anecdotes from those who served, so not only providing historical insights but also bringing to life the human stories of those who fought. His contributions to military history continue to inspire and educate, making him a respected figure in the field.

Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.

Doors open at Cobham at 7:15pm and the meeting starts at 7:45pm. We ask for a modest £5 donation on the door, and this includes tea, coffee and biscuits at the break, plus free tickets for the book raffle. Attendees can use our cashless card system and use their credit card/phone with the reader that will be available at the signing-in desk.

To help make things easier and safer, we are asking those coming to Cobham to bring their own mug for coffee or tea.
