The Infantry Pioneers of WW1

A remarkable story of the men who answered the call to arms. Many skilled tradesmen who built and fought on the Western Front. Battalions containing Blacksmiths, Carpenters and Miners who transformed the battlefield fortifying the trenches, keeping the roads clear and repaired, and even operating the trench railway systems. When out of line they were kept busy building and repairing many camps that housed the men who were training and/or ‘at rest’.
