Albert ‘Slash’ Seaton (DCM & Bar), 9th Queen’s Royal Lancers (Boer War & WW1)

In 1900 a 17 year old south East London boy left for modern day South Africa to fight for the British Army against the ‘rebellious’ Boer republics. Upon his return to England in 1902 he became a professional soldier as a 9th Queens Royal Lancer, serving in India, South Arica and Blighty. In October 1914, he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and then spent the entire war in Belgium and France, receiving his second DCM (Bar) in April 1918, retiring as a soldier in 1920.

Albert ‘Slash’ Seaton is Matt’s Great Great Uncle.
