Alexander Paterson Prison reformer
Harry Potter will talk about Alexander Paterson, a noted prison reformer, and his Great War experiences with the Bermondsey Battalion of the London Regiment
Our speaker hails originally from Glasgow. He is a barrister specialising in criminal defence, has a 1st Class degree in History and MPhil from Emmanuel College Cambridge, and is a former Fellow of Selwyn College Cambridge.
He presented a three-part series on the history of the common law for BBC 4, and has contributed to many TV and radio history documentaries, and has been on a variety of podcasts (including one for the WFA), as well as contributing to Stand To! And writing several books on English and Scottish history.
We meet once a month on Thursdays evenings at 8.00pm. We ask for a modest donation of £4 on the door (cash only) to defray costs.
A bar is available for members to purchase refreshments (card only).
Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome.
