They Think Its All Over. The Final Days, 27th September to 11th November 1918
Starting at the Hindenburg Line, we move on through the German lines, advancing and fighting on all fronts. We look at the challenges that urgently needed to be overcome as the advance continues to build, with rivers to be crossed, trenches to be cleared, French and Belgian towns being liberated, thousands of wounded to be cared for, and with many more thousands of German prisoners and wounded also being taken and having to be secured and guarded. All whilst advancing and attacking on a widening front, in rapidly deteriorating weather conditions, and with many officers and men ravaged by the Spanish flu epidemic, which was spreading throughout both the advancing and retreating armies' personnel, and, in fact, soon to be the whole of Europe.
