Skipton's POW Camp and its German prisoners

Speaker: Anne Buckley
Skipton Pow Camp Photo Of Men

This talk is based on Prof Anne Buckley's research and her translation of Kriegsgefangen in Skipton, a memoir written by 60 of the 900 German officers held as POWs in Yorkshire during the Great War. Providing fascinating details about daily life in the camp, she also reveals absorbing stories about the POWs themselves, who included naval captains, U-boat officers and airmen as well as infantrymen.
