Observers with the Royal Flying Corps
Speaker: Colin Buxton
This talk covers all aspects of work done by Observers in the First World War.
Colin Buxton will look at all aspects of the life of the observers including their training, their varied operational work and the politics behind them being treated as 'second class citizens' relative to the pilots.
It will include details of crew cooperation and the way roles developed, attitudes of the higher echelons of the RFC to observers as a cadre, and personal recollections of many observers from every major aircraft type and time.
Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
