Lessons from the Mud: 55th (West Lancashire) Division at Third Ypres

Following the division's two attacks at Third Ypres, General Jeudwine ordered 'post operational reports' from his subordinate commanders. Some were formal reports compiled by Adjutants, others by Junior NCOs written on a page torn from a notepad.

Preserved at Liverpool Record Office but transcribed by Paul, these offer a unique insight not into the battles, but how the commanders adjusted tactics between the battles.
