In 1918, the Egyptian Expeditionary Force under Sir Edmund Allenby swept through Palestine in a remarkable campaign. Even more impressive, this success was achieved with a force heavily reinforced by inexperienced Indian troops.
This talk explores how the EEF became ‘Indianised’ after the German Spring Offensive in the West, prompting Allenby to focus on intensive training and preparation before leading his army to victory at Megiddo in September 1918 — a triumph that helped knock the Ottoman Empire out of the war.
