Morning Brought Relief at Fromelles, by H R Williams | 19-20 July 1916 | Episode 136
Published on 19 July 1916
Not only in the Somme area was the British Army active during the summer of 1916. The author, an Australian "digger," describes a fierce subsidiary battle at Fromelles, near Aubers Ridge, fought to prevent German reinforcements being sent to the Somme. Although Mr. Williams records no brilliant success, it was at this period that the British made considerable advances in the main theatre.
