The best WW1 film?

5 August 2024

A recent news item in the Daily Express detailed a ‘top ten First World War Films’ countdown. There were some surprising entries on the list and some omissions. Further internet searching revealed a plethora of similar lists which provided details of really obscure films and highlighted the wide range of views as to what constitutes a good film.

So it may be appropriate for us to undertake a non-scientific ‘poll’ of WFA members to see what comes out as the ‘top ten’ Great War films. For the purposes of this, we will exclude documentaries, although whilst  ‘They Shall Not Grow Old’ may be classed as a documentary of sorts, because we like it, we’ve included it !

Using the link here: WW1 Film Poll we’d like to invite members to vote for their top five films and we’ll see what our ‘poll’ looks like. We realise there are lots of films missing from our poll, but as mentioned above, this is entirely 'non-scientific'.
