First World War burials and rededication ceremonies in September 2026
The JCCC (otherwise known as 'The War Detectives') have announced the following burials and re-dedications will be taking place in September of soldiers killed in the Great War. These ceremonies are always moving events and can be attended by the general public.
22 September
10.30am – a rededication service for Private George Pert of the 7th Battalion The Seaforth Highlanders who was killed in action on 20 October 1918. This service will take place at Harlebeke New British Cemetery, Belgium.
2pm – a rededication service for 2/Lt Frank Fleming of 4th Battalion (attached 7th Battalion) The Seaforth Highlanders, who was killed in action on 11 April 1918. This service will take place at Voormezeele Enclosure No.3, Belgium
24 September
11am – a burial service for Private George Fleming Brock and Private Percy Todd, both of 11th Battalion The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, as well as two unknown soldiers of The Gordon Highlanders, and a further two unknown Scottish soldiers. These men are all believed to have been killed during the Spring Offensive in 1918. This service will take place at Point du Jour Cemetery, Athies, France.
