Return of the Colin Hardy Memorial Award for 2026

The Western Front Association is pleased to announce the relaunch of the Colin Hardy Memorial Award for 2026.

Following a short hiatus, the competition returns to foster interest and scholarship in the First World War among young people. It is open to students aged 16 to 18 from anywhere in the world.

Sponsored by the family of the late Colin Hardy—a distinguished Headteacher, author and WFA member—the award invites entrants to submit an essay or project report on any topic relating to the Great War. Two prizes of £500 are available, alongside certificates for all participants.

The closing date for entries is 21 August 2026.
