A visit to Gallipoli, Troy and Istanbul
Those interested in the history of the Great War will be aware of the Gallipoli campaign that commenced in April 1915 when an Allied force landed at Cape Helles, and ended the following January. However, some many not be aware of the rich history of the country of Turkey. In 2025 Pat Sheehan of the Cork Branch visited Turkey. In this presentation, he will show and speak about a series of photographs that he took of the battlefields of Gallipoli, the site of the ancient city of Troy, and the historic city of Istanbul - formerly Constantinople, the capital city of the Byzantine Empire.
Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts. Admission is free but, if possible, we would appreciate a small donation of €5.00 to help cover branch costs.
