In 1914, motorcycle dispatch riders, primarily volunteers in the British Royal Engineers Signal Service, rapidly filled a crucial role delivering messages amidst the chaos of early World War I

They did this often riding their own machines (Triumphs, Douglases) while carrying vital spares and navigating dangerous conditions, representing a blend of civilian enthusiasm and urgent military need for swift communication between commanders.
