Innovation and Improvisation: Royal Army Medical Corps in the Great War

Speaker: Professor Jessica Meyer
RAMC

This talk considers how the work of the RAMC during the First World War built on existing military medical practice through innovation and improvisation. It considers items such as the first field dressing, the triangular bandage, the stretcher and the Thomas splint to show how front line medical care developed over the four and half years of the war.
