The All Arms Battle and Manoeuvre Warfare – British Airpower 1917

Speaker: Christopher Finn
06 Jun 26

In his talk Christopher will look at how, while a strategic failure for the Allies, the Battle of the Somme led (along with many technical developments) to the 'professionalisation' of the British Army in 1917 and how this contributed to the successful Hundred Days campaign in 1918. We will also look at the rise of British air power from technical, tactical and organizational perspectives, and examine how the western understanding of air power that persists to this day was created.

Members and non-members of the Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.

Suggested donation on the door £5.
