Newspaper photographer Ariel Varges first picked up a film camera in 1914 when his employers sent him to cover the Mexican-American War. With the outbreak of the Great War, he was sent to Europe and spent four years embedded with British Forces.

The famous photo [above] of soldiers playing football on Christmas Day was taken by Ariel.

Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
