The Coming of Age: British Airpower on the Western Front 1914 –1916
Speaker: Gp Capt Chris Finn (Retd)
British airpower on the Western Front from 1914 to 1916 evolved rapidly from a small reconnaissance component into a crucial, specialized force focused on supporting ground operations through artillery observation, photography, and aerial fighting.
The Royal Flying Corps (RFC) saw immense growth during this period, expanding from a few squadrons to a force of 27 squadrons by the Battle of the Somme in 1916.
Our speaker is Gp Capt Chris Finn (Rted) served in the RAF for 33 years as a navigator, primarily on the Buccaneer, and was a weapons and tactics specialist.
All are welcome to attend this event, and everyone is guaranteed a warm welcome with the doors opening at 6.30pm ready for a 7pm start.
