Phil Carradice is a freelance writer, consultant and broadcaster. He regularly holds creative writing workshops in various schools, colleges and societies. A former teacher and headteacher, he hails from Pembroke Dock, but now lives in the Vale of Glamorgan.
An Amazon review of Phil’s novel says “This story traces the coming-of-age of Danny, a naïve lad from the Rhondda Valley, who lies about his age to sign up for the First World War. Linked to his story is a fictional account of 'Hedd Wyn' the real young poet and Eisteddfod winner, who died in the war. In the army, Danny grows up fast, and eventually is shipped to France and Passchendaele. The reader is drawn into the descriptions of life and death in the trenches- the sights, sounds and smells vividly realised. Yet, without pulling any punches, the tone is suitable for young readers, who will take away from it an understanding of the horrors of war. I was riveted by this book - literally, I couldn't put it down”
