The Battle of Jutland
Pete has delivered a number of talks to the Branch of his and his wife’s serving family members however this new talk on ‘The Battle of Jutland’, the largest Sea Battle of World War 1, is a purely historic account with no family connection.
He will take you through the pre-war build up of the British and German Navies, some pre-Jutland actions in the North Sea and the disposition of the two naval forces in the Spring of 1916.
Utilising information gathered from the many sources available, including quotes, pictures and videos, he’ll examine the various phases of the battle, from opening salvo to final engagement and will explore the losses on both sides.
Post-battle perceptions differ:
• Was it a German Victory?
• Was it a British Victory?
• What impact did it have on the rest of the war?
Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome.
Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
We look forward to welcoming you to our branch meetings.
