The Work of the Voluntary Aid Detachments (Chauffeuses), 1916-1919
Paul’s talk looks at the ‘day-to-day’ experiences of the VAD women ambulance drivers during WW1 conveying the wounded, and the dead, on the Lines of Communication. The talk considers the experiences of the women, and the prejudices they face, upon leaving their Edwardian lives on the ‘home front’ and working on the ‘war front’
The talk will be supported by rare original photos and other related items from Paul’s personal collection.
Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome.
Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
