Burial and re-dedication ceremonies in April and May

For those who are going to be out on the Western Front in April and May, there are a number of commemoration services and re-burials taking place by the Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre Commemorations team (otherwise known as 'The War Detectives'). 

Below are the burials and ceremonies scheduled in coming weeks 

Tuesday 29 April (3pm) at Ovillers Military Cemetery there will be a burial service for unknown Commonwealth soldiers.

Wednesday 30 April (11am) at Loos British Cemetery Extension there will be a burial service for unknown Commonwealth soldiers. 

Thursday 8 May (2pm) at New Irish Farm Cemetery, Belgium there will be a burial service for Private John Tame of 2/Royal Berkshires, who was killed in action on 16 August 1917.

Tuesday 20 May (3pm) at Loos British Cemetery Extension, there will be a burial service for one unknown soldier of the Sherwood Foresters, and one other unknown soldier. 

Wednesday 21 May (10.30am) at Perth Cemetery (China Wall) in Belgium there will be a rededication service for Private John Walton of the 8/South Staffordshires who died on 15 February 1916. 

Wednesday 21 May (3pm) at Poelcapelle British Cemetery there will be a burial service for Private Harry James Birch of the 16/Cheshires who died on 22 October 1917, and four unknown soldiers.

Thursday 22 May (10am) at Oosttaverne Wood Cemetery, Belgium there will be a rededication service for 2nd Lt William Knight of the North Staffordshire Regiment (attached to the 1/Bedfords) who was killed on 21 April 1915. 

These ceremonies are always moving events and can be attended by the general public.
