John Terraine

For many years, John Terraine was the outstanding English-speaking authority on the conduct of the war on the Western Front in 1914-18. He was a member of Council of the Royal United Services Institute for Defence Studies from 1976 to 1984.

In 1980, he became the founding President, later Patron, of The Western Front Association, a role he held until 1998.
