The Battle of the Sambre: Crossing the Canal

Speaker: Dr Derek Clayton
10 Oct 26

On 4 November 1918, the Third and Fourth Armies deliver the final knock-out blow to the German Army as they assault the Forest of Mormal and force the crossing of the Sambre-Oise Canal one week before the Armistice.
In this talk, Derek will concentrate on Fourth Army and the Royal Engineers as they force the crossing of the Sambre-Oise canal between Landrecies and Lock No 1.

Members and non-members of the Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.

Suggested donation on the door £5.
