The 25th April is commemorated throughout the U.K., Eire, Australasia and other parts of the world, as ANZAC/Gallipoli Day. Over half a million men died in this ill fated campaign in Turkey during World War One. To mark this event, the Staffordshire Regiment Museum, in conjunction with the Gallipoli Association, a free Gallipoli Day.
The day will include
- Free access for under 16s to the Museum, with displays on the involvement of the Staffordshire Regiment
- The trench will be re-configured to how it would be in Turkey in 1915
- Free, bitesize talks on the Gallipoli Campaign and the Staffords
- Re-enactors displaying uniforms and weapons of campaign
- Volunteers to answer questions on the campaign
- Quiz sheets and activities
