I Was There!

These videos have been created from the original series of magazines that were published between 1938 and 1939. The original magazine was published in 51 weekly instalments and came to a conclusion just after the start of the Second World War.

Digital PDF files of the original magazines are available to members of The Western Front Association in our Searchable Magazine Archive and accompany these narrated episodes which we continue to turn out on a weekly basis.

We encourage members to both watch the narrated episodes below and read the original magazine format in the archive. The narrations continue to be released in batches, and are 'filtered' to enable groups of videos on a similar theme to be located. Please select a topic from the 'drop down' below to find accounts both chronologically (starting with the outbreak of the war, and progressing through the various campaigns by year) and also by 'theme'.

To be notified of every new video, simply subscribe to The WFA's YouTube channel.
