A brief clip from our 'Virtual Tour #1': The Royal Naval Division at Krithia 1915

11 November 2021

Due to overwhelming demand 'on the night' there was a degree of buffering on the initial 'Virtual Tour'. This was quickly fixed at the time, and the hour-long tour remains available for members to watch via the 'members log-in'. This can be seen without any technical 'gremlins' and has received excellent feedback. Please keep an eye out for news of the forthcoming virtual tours (the next one will debut on 16 December).

Two brief clips of the tour are shown here to whet the appetite for the full tour which was led by Clive Harris, who is well known as a battlefield guide and an expert on the Gallipoli campaign.

Above: in this clip, Clive talks about the preliminaries to the landings, and in particular a raid on Turkish batteries that led to the award of a VC to Eric 'Kipper' Robinson

Below: Clive introduces the personal account of Assistant Paymaster Harry Biles who was part of the famous Royal Naval Division. He witnessed the attack at Krithia in 1915

To watch the tour in full go to the members log in area, and enter your password and then click on 'Virtual Tours'. Once on the page, you will have a wide selection of tours to watch, shown in the 'archive' section on the right hand side of the page. The tours available are all those from the first series plus the new 'Krithia' talk which is at the top of the list.

Again you will need to enter your password.

To watch the tour, just click on the 'play' arrow in the bottom left corner of the video.
