1/25th County of London Cyclists

Speaker: Dr Adam Prime
Marchinginindia

The 25th London Cyclists, a largely forgotten regiment. The 1/25th battalion's WW1 service was undertaken in the UK, India and the North West Frontier.

They were on coastal defence duties in Suffolk for 2 years and witnessed two Zeppelin raids on Lowestoft. Moving to India in February 1916 they participated in the Waziristan Campaign of 1917.  In 1919 they helped quell the Amritsar uprising, and participated in the 3rd Afghan War.

Most of the Battalion did not return to the UK until Dec 1919. All without their beloved bicycles.
