Burial and re-dedication ceremonies in July

The JCCC (otherwise known as 'The War Detectives') have announced the following ceremonies will be taking place in June of men killed in the Great War. These ceremonies are always moving events and can be attended by the general public.

Tuesday 8 July (3pm) at Aubers Ridge British Cemetery, there will be a burial service for CQSM Charles Monro of the 2nd Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders who was killed in action on 21 October 1914. 

Wednesday 9 July (11am) at Canadian Cemetery No. 2, Vimy, there will be a rededication ceremony for 2Lt John Taylor Macintyre of the 18th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry who was killed in action on 25 August 1917.

Wednesday 9 July (2.30pm) at Roclincourt Valley Cemetery, there will be a rededication service for Cpl Francis Flynn of the 1/7th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders who was killed in action on 9 April 1917. 

Wednesday 9 July (3.30pm) at Highland Cemetery, Roclincourt, there will be a rededication service for Sjt Robert Sutherland of the 6th Seaforth Highlanders who was killed in action on 9 April 1917. 

Thursday 10 July (11am) at Dadizeele New British Cemetery, there will be a rededication service for Pte John Lamond of the 8th Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) who was killed around 14/15 October 1918.  

Tuesday 15 July (3.30pm) at Lebucquière Communal Cemetery Extension, there will be a rededication service for Lance Corporal Charles Madgwick of 4th Battalion The Bedfordshire Regiment, who was killed in action on 24 March 1918. 

Wednesday 16 July (10.30am) at at Loos British Cemetery Extension, there will be a number of burial services for burial service for the following men:

Corporal Alfred James Morrant and Private Henry Joseph Rycraft of 11th Battalion The Essex Regiment;

Private Arthur Albert Grayston and Private Lewis Ephraim Lambert of 8th Battalion The Bedfordshire Regiment;

two unknown soldiers of 11th Battalion The Essex Regiment;

two other unknown soldiers of unknown regiments.

All these men were killed in action in April 1917.
