- Now open: WFA 2025 Masters Grant Scheme
The Western Front Association Masters Grant Scheme for 2025 is now open. The scheme provides students undertaking a research dissertation on a First World War topic with the opportunity to enrich their research.
The WFA is offering grants of £300 and one year's free membership to The Western Front Association (or equivalent reimbursement for current members).
Jon Williams, a 2022 recipient, says "I'd urge any MA student studying the FWW to apply".
£300 is a big help (books & travel costs) & WFA membership gets access to The Western Front Association's archive of material.
You can read the website article based on Jon's MA thesis:
Previous successful entries have included divisional and battalion assessments, studies of cathedral memorial tablets, British soldiers' cartoons, military service tribunals and many other topics. Nothing is off limits. If your dissertation relates to the First World War, The WFA wants to hear from you!
Deadline for submissions is Wednesday 30 April 2025.
